The pilot study is testing two free online parenting programs designed for divorced or separated families. Participation is voluntary and confidential. Participants will provide feedback on one of the two free parenting programs. The goal is to gather input to help improve and tailor the programs to better meet families’ needs.

Answer: Yes! Once the program is complete you will receive a certificate of completion to present to the court representative.

You can go to the “Welcome” page and read about your options. If you choose to participate, follow the instructions at the bottom of the page.

You’ll need to consent to participant, fill out your first survey before starting the parenting program, a 2nd survey a month after you complete the program and your 3rd survey 6 months after.

Answer: There is no compensation for the first survey nor for completing the free online parenting program; however, parents who have taken these programs have found the tools to be very useful. You will receive $20 for completing the second survey after the program and $30 for the third survey.

Answer: You are randomly placed in one of the two programs. You will need to complete your assigned program in order to get a certificate

Answer: The parenting program in the pilot study is FREE! The program through the PEAP certified providers may have a fee.

The pilot parenting program is self-paced so it depends on how much you work you do every week. Parents are encouraged to complete 1 unit per week. One program has 3 units and the other program has 7 units.

If you choose to be part of the pilot study, we can loan you a tablet. When you sign up, you will be asked if you need one.

It’s ok to opt out! In that case, you can review the list of NYS approved PEAP Providers to select the parenting program that best fits your needs. Note, there may be a fee associated.

It’s ok to select the certified PEAP program option. Be sure to select a provider from the list to attend a parenting program of your choice.

You can stop participating in the pilot study at any time. If you choose to do so, you’ll still need to complete a parenting program from the certified PEAP programs list.
