Participation
NYS PEAP is partnering with Arizona State University on a pilot study to examine the effectiveness of two parent education programs and would like to offer you the chance to participate voluntarily at no cost. The study will provide a certificate of completion that you can present to the court representative(s). Please know that participating in the study will not affect your case in any way. The choice is completely voluntary.
You have been randomly placed in one of these two programs:
Program 1: contains 6 units containing online videos and exercises that teach four building blocks of effective parenting. Each unit takes about 30 minutes plus the time you choose practicing the skills at home.
Program 2: contains 3 units, including videos and exercises, covering three new ways to navigate conflict with your child’s other parent. Each unit takes about 30 minutes, with additional time for practicing skills at home.
You will also be asked to fill out a total of three surveys. Each survey is estimated to take 15-20 minutes.
1. The first survey is done before you start the PEAP program ($0).
2. We will email or text you a link to the second survey one month after you complete the program ($20).
3. The third survey in 6 months after you complete the program ($30).
